What is a Pub? The word Pub is short for Public Houses. The history of the Irish Pub is steeped with culture and lore. The Irish pub in the middle ages was a rough–hewn place with natural wood furniture and stone walls. They had large fireplaces and hanging oil lamps over wood or stone floors. The Irish pub was
a warm welcoming place where people socialized, sang, relaxed, told
stories and exchanged gossips and rumors while enjoying their favorite beverage and food.

In the 19th century the British deemed the Irish pub illegal so naturally with the independent spirit of the Irish people pubs flourished during this time. They became places where rebels gathered to complain about the British crown. Some came to release frustrations and plan underground rebellions.
